The coronavirus pandemic has had a severe economic impact on the Indonesian island of Bali, which relies heavily on tourism. The island hoped to reopen to international travellers in July 2020, but then local authorities had to pull back on those plans after a rise in Covid-19 cases in Bali. As the isolation continues, some people who had been working in Bali’s tourism industry have turned to seaweed farming as a way of riding out the economic downturn
