Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said a COVID-19 vaccine could be ready for distribution within weeks. Healthcare workers will be given the inoculation first. Mr Modi met with leaders of various political parties to discuss India’s fight against the pandemic. He said eight vaccines are being tested and produced in India, including the one developed by Oxford University and AstraZeneca. On Dec 4, the country reported less than 40,000 new cases for the fifth straight day.
