KCR Govt Caps Prices for Covid Tests and Treatment | Hyderabad Prime Time News | 15 June 2020

Hyderabad: A day after allowing private hospitals and diagnostic centres to test and treat Covid-19 patients, the State government on Monday announced one more major decision, to discourage price gouging during the pandemic, and announced capping of prices for private laboratories and corporate hospitals.

As per the price chart allowed by the government, a coronavirus test can be charged Rs. 2,200 at a private diagnostic laboratory. Corporate hospitals can charge up to Rs 4,000 per day for isolation facilities from mild Covid-19 positive patients, Rs. 7,500 per day from patients who need Intensive Care Unit (ICU) facilities but not ventilator support, and Rs. 9,000 per day from critical patients who need both ICU and ventilator support.
