Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko announced that mass vaccination against coronavirus infection could start in October, talking with journalists in Nizhniy Novgorod on Saturday.
“First of all, [the vaccine will be given to] physicians and teachers, and in parallel there will be another third phase of observation of vaccinated patients. And we are planning a wider one – we have to gradually enter the new system of care, it will happen more in October,” the minister said.
He added that the clinical trials of the vaccine, developed at the Gamalei Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, have been completed and the documents for registering the vaccine are being prepared.
“Another coronavirus vaccine is being clinically tested, and we expect at least two more applications in the next month and a half or two months to allow clinical trials,” Murashko outlined.
